 Guwahati is a major city in eastern India .
Often considered as the gateway to the North-East Region of the country and is the largest city within the region.
Epigraphic sources place capitals of many ancient kingdoms in Guwahati. It was the capital of the mythological kings Naraka and Bhagadatta.
